Next week, you will all find out the results of the Noirvember ’55 draft being held this weekend with my friends, Sergio Angelini and Nick Cardillo. In a quick aside, if you can’t get enough of film noir, you really should be listening to Sergio’s podcast, Tipping My Fedora, where he talks to all sorts of experts and fans about anything noir – movies, books, TV, film festivals – the list goes on.
Late last year, I got to sit down and have a long talk with Sergio about my favorite director, Alfred Hitchcock, and his forays into noir during the 1940’s. It was a long chat, which Sergio divided into two parts. The first half, which he played the first part on his podcast many months go, delves into the early 40’s classics Rebecca, Suspicion and Shadow of a Doubt. And now the second half of our conversation has dropped. This time, Sergio and I talk about the late 40’s, including one of my least favorite films, Spellbound (I tell you why), one of Hitchcock’s best, Notorious, and one of his most intriguing experiments – Rope.

If you have a time to check it out, please come back and drop your thoughts about any of these films in the comments below. And be sure to subscribe to Sergio’s amazing podcast, Tipping My Fedora. You can find it wherever you listen to your favorites.
Wish me luck: our production of Once Upon a One More Time, the Britney Spears musical, opens tonight. And come back next week to find our list of the Top Thirteen Films Noirs of 1955!
