MR. THORWALD IN THE GARDEN WITH THE HATBOX: Sergio and Brad Discuss Rear Window

If you are a true “Ah Sweet Mysterian” (yes, we’ve got our own cult name!), then you know that Rear Window is my favorite Alfred Hitchcock movie and maybe my favorite film of all time. I’ve mentioned it a lot and written about it extensively here. But I’ve never gotten to talk about it quite so much as I did recently with my good pal, Sergio Angelini. He has hosted me before on his superb podcast, Tipping My Fedora, when we talked about Hitchcock’s 1940’s noir films. We were going to do the same thing with the 50’s titles, but somehow we stayed with the Master of Suspense’s 1954 masterpiece. (Although we touch on Vertigo for a bit, I think – that’s good, too!)

We go into detail about the Cornell Woolrich story that inspired Hitchcock, the production of the film and that glorious set (Sergio knows soooo much!), and why it is such a terrific movie. I hope you enjoy the conversation.

And don’t forget – next weekend, Sergio and I are meeting up with our close amigo Nick Cardillo to draft the TOP TWENTY FILM DETECTIVE PORTRAYALS OF ALL TIME! And YOU can still be a part of the draft by nominating your favorite screen detective (name both the ACTOR and the ROLE) in the comments below. The top two vote getters are guaranteed a spot on the list as the READERS’ CHOICE selections.

Here are some links to the episode that Sergio has provided, but you should be able to find it wherever you listen to your podcasts:
